RTW : Best Book I've Read This August

Road Trip Highway is a weekly blog carnival organised by YA Highway.

This week's topic: What's the best book you've read this month?

I'm gonna be cheating. I can't say one. August's been more or less a good month and some of the books I've read this month have become my favourites ever.

Here's the top three in no particular order:

Dreaming of Amelia (by Jaclyn Moriarty): Ghosts, secrets and Jaclyn Moriarty.Need I say more? You can read my review here (if you want more, ie.).

The Sky Always Hears Me And The Hills Don't Mind(by Kirstin Cronn-Mills) : Morgan's sharp, funny voice is a clear winner. Plus the Central Nebraska setting. To know more, again, read my review.

And this is the one, I haven't reviewed yet, but ohmynchgdgcshiuchcdgcjiduweGOD The Sky Is Everywhere (by Jandy Nelson) is so damn stunning.
The writing is what wins here, hands down. Love triangles have been done to death, but it's the way it's been done that wins here. A picture of grief, mingled with the song of Lennie's poems and the delight of love..I WANT TO EAT THIS NOVEL.
It's funny.
It's sad.
And it's oh-so-gorgeous, it's left me *speechless*
Jandy Nelson's writing rings out with the passion and beauty of music. Wow.

Special Mention: I'm cheating here again since I haven't finished it yet (I'm damn slow with ebooks. The fact that I'm sticking to it speaks tons), but Angela Morrison's just released Unbroken Connection is beautiful, lyrical and gah, I'm just gonna go finish it now.

Back to you, have you read any of the above books? What's been your fave August read?

We both fell in love with THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE this month! It's the kind of book I know I'll be reading over and over and over.

Haven't read THE SKY ALWAYS HEARS ME... yet but it's way up on the TBR list!

OMG more books to add to to-read list. I will drown in books at this rate :) At least I'll die happy!

I've been wanting to read The Sky is Everywhere for weeks! My local bookstore is continuously out of stock. Time to break down and order from Amazon, I suppose, because I've heard nothing by lovely things about it.

I cannot WAIT to read the Sky is Everywhere - it's getting rave reviews left right and centre, so I'm getting excited! Great choice of books, and their covers are so pretty!

Okay, I MUST find The Sky is Everywhere, because that book is...well...everywhere today! :)

Weird, I've read 3 of your 4 books this month too. We must be getting recommendations from the same people or something - is Nomes around here somewhere? I loved all three of them - probably The Sky more so than the others. Looking forward to your review!

I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I'm seriously in love with the cover of The Sky Always Hears. I'll be checking that one out for sure!

Thanks for the recommendations!

Love love LOVED The Sky Always Hears Me. Thanks for the recommendation! I've been reading a ton of middle grade lately, I don't know why. The Nicholas Flamel series by Michael Scott - I've read the first four books in two weeks. Also, Hooked by Les Edgerton, but that is a book about writing fantastic beginnings. Loved it! It's really been a big help.

I need to stop reading your blog. I've got to add The Sky is Everywhere to my TBR list now. I come over and leave with a ton more books to read. I can hardly wait for that one now! I need more time in a day so I can write, read, write, read...oh, and that little thing I call my real job needs to fit in there somewhere as well. HA!

Came from {here}

Your blog looks amazing, if that's any consolation. I'm a new follower. I loved The Sky is Everywhere (and I'd offer to give my *new* copy away if I had a US copy-- I have the UK one) The others are on my TBR list, so yeah. Hopefully sometime in the future I can receive a copy of them somehow.
